Quick answer: Follow the directions on your bottle. With 30 capsules sold as a 30-day supply, one capsule a day is likely. Take it with a meal containing some fat to help lutein absorb. Check your total vitamin A and zinc from other supplements, and talk to a doctor first if you are pregnant or smoke.

Safety notes
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Visivra if:
- You are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding (too much preformed vitamin A can harm a developing baby).
- You smoke or used to smoke; ask whether the form of vitamin A suits you, since high-dose beta-carotene raised lung cancer risk in smokers.
- You already take a multivitamin, fish liver oil or another eye or zinc supplement, so you do not double up on vitamin A or zinc.
- You take blood thinners such as warfarin (bilberry may add to their effect).
- You have liver disease, or take retinoid medicines for skin.
- You notice sudden vision changes, flashes, floaters, eye pain or a curtain over your vision. See an eye doctor urgently; a supplement cannot help.
Harmless yellowing of the skin can occur with very high carotenoid intake. Stop and get advice if you notice headaches, nausea or a rash.
